Aamon, previously known as Arohasear, is the seventh demon of the Ars Goetia and one of the many Marquis of Hell, governing over forty infernal legions. Aamon's personality primarily embodies the sin of Wrath and is a blood brother of Amaymon.
He serves as a Marquis of the Crossroads, Personal Assistant to Astaroth, and General under Satanachia. He takes great pride in his military epithets including Lord of War, Life, Witchcraft and Necromancy, High Priest of Fertility, God among the Gods, Shadow of Satan and The Strongest of Demons.
Overview[]
Aamon presides over forty legions of demons and is one of the four personal assistants of Astaroth. Before the advent of Christ, he attempted to find worship by pretending to be prominent deities such as Amun in Egypt or Hammon in Carthage.
As a Crossroad Demon, he procures love for those seeking it, and he resolves conflicts through Faustian Bargains. He is a direct subordinate of Satanachia and is described as a Marquis in the Ars Goetia and Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, but as a Prince in the Dictionnaire Infernal.
Appearance[]
Aamon is part of the physical subgroup of demons known as Avian demons, because they share major physical characteristics with birds. He appears as an owl, sparrow or wolf with a snake's tail and falcon wings who can breathe fire, or as a blue-skinned man with canine teeth that are situated inside of a falcon-headed man with thick red wings. He has two front legs, both of which are wolf legs. In his humanoid form he has either blue, albino or pale white skin. As a beast, he has the head of a white barn owl or sparrow with black eyes. When enraged, his feathers turn brown, his face more similar to a common owl or falcon, and his eyes turn a glowing yellow like the fire of hell. If his head ever morphs from bird to canine, it means he is at his deepest point of rage.
Accompanying him is an Infernal falcon, which Aamon has great admiration for in comparison to Earthly falcons. Despite this, there has been little-to-no explanation about what the difference is between an Earthly falcon and an Infernal one; the demons said that the Infernal birds are simply native to Hell instead of Earth, but Aamon insists on his infernal companions having great differences from their "lesser brethren". When on-duty in humanoid form, he is always seen wearing dark purple form-fitting armor with a spiked gold helmet and rows of thorns upon his leggings. In times of victory he wears a cape.
Outside of his humanoid form he wears a dark red frock coat lined with gold-colored calligraphy. Alongside this is a gold monocle and a black top hat with gold-colored lining. There are certainly many occasions though, where Aamon prefers no clothes at all. Within his bestial form he is only capable of bird calling, barking, whimpering, howling and growling. His calls resemble that of the barn owl or falcon due to his anatomy. In his humanoid form though, he is capable of speaking.
Personality[]
Aamon is by no means good-natured or kind, he will attack those who don't deserve it for seemingly no reason. Despite this, he isn't evil, at least in the traditional sense, even being mocked as a "goody two shoes" by his fellow demons. He is a serious and no-nonsense demon who follows the law of Hell, and as a General he has the respect of his legions for being “honorable”. He hates how people keep joking around and take things in a light manner, often reverting into his brown-feathered form and breathing fire and poisonous gas onto them as a punishment if angered.
So even though he attacks only when provoked, he can be quite easily provoked due to his wrathful nature. This is due to his nature as a demon of wrath, often compelling humans to attack their comrades. He wants humans to be serious, cruel and cold so they can be more useful to him. It’s evident from the information above that he has a short temper with things. He is also somewhat pompous and posh, thinking much higher of himself than those above him. This pride makes him do bold things, such as break truces between his kin and opposing forces. He’s bestial and violence is his first answer if he believed he was being harmed. Despite his allegiance to the rules, he is not above lying or cheating anyone, and he has done so many times. He has no affection for humans, and doesn’t care about any human who he doesn’t see as useful. Even if someone is useful, he only cares because that person can benefit him. He views most humans as easily corruptible and weak, which he takes advantage of for what he calls the “Greater Good”, that being to make them “stronger” like demons by making sure they lose emotional attachments and remain loyal.
Powers and Abilities[]
Aamon is one of the most powerful demons in Hell, possessing a variety of powers that help him in combat. Even when he was in Heaven, he was considered incredibly smart, agile, power among his angelic brethren. He was someone who many angels and demons alike admired and admire to the day, although some of his powers have been weakened since his bestial transformation.
Aamon knows of most things, of the past, present, and future. He can help strengthen the bond between the best of friends and settle conflict between the worst of foes, even if the circumstances to get there aren't the most peaceful. He will end all arguments in the most efficient way even by ending the life of one side, much to the horror of his conjurers.
He engages in these bargains so when the contract ends, the victim can be brought to hell and molded into a perfect soldier by him. This involves a grueling process of forcing the captive to lose all emotional attachment, usually through psychological torture.
- Hellfire Breath: Aamon is able to breathe hellfire from the mouth.
- Inferna-Ergokinesis: He has the power to fire a large beam of dark demonic energy from his hands and mouth, shoot multiple energy beams consecutively from his hands.
- Biokinesis: He is capable of molding human beings and living beings into a being of suffering flesh known as a kyoseiniku, a tsunami of inside matter that can assimilate whatever is in its path, can control any atoms of this mass and will use it at will.
- Explosive Manipulation: With hellfire it can infuse itself with it and coming from itself create hellish atomic explosions. These can destroy over 1000km and more.
- Pyrokinetic Manipulation: Aamon can generate a special type of fire inside his body and then spray it out of his mouth. This fire is even more powerful and dangerous than the infamous hellfire of the Infernal Realm, and incinerates anything in it’s path, he can give off pyrokinetic bursts from his body which can expand in a similar way to explosive manipulation.
- Dark Light Ball of False Love: Aamon can create a ball of Dark light that he forms in his hand. It rapidly expands into a wide-ranging explosion that deals damage and turns its victims' pain into pleasure, causing them to fall asleep as they die.
- Psychokinesis: Not only can Aamon use his mind to pick up and move objects, but he can also detect when enemies are near and what their strength is.
- Spikes: From his wrists Aamon can extend spikes that can cut through most organic objects.
- Elongation: Aamon can stretch his limbs beyond what seems feasible.
- Underwater Breathe: Aamon is able to breathe while underwater, which is much less impressive considering he's a spiritual entity.
- Day: During the day, Aamon's power is increased tenfold. What "day" means to a being beyond time is unknown.
- Knowledge: Aamon is often summoned for his ability for his photographic memory of the past as well as his ability to predict the future. However, like most demons, he will only answer truthfully if the inquirer asks their question specifically down to the last syllable.
- Poison Breath: Aamon's breath is incredibly poisonous, similar to Amaymon.
History[]
Creation[]
Aamon, originally known as Arohasear, was created by God near the beginning of time along with the rest of the angels. During his time in Heaven, Arohasear would often be the one to settle arguments between the other angels before they become conflicts. While this worked, it didn't leave a positive impact on Arohasear. It was always him who gained the short end of the stick, even if the arguments ended positively. It became worse as the amount of arguments that ended in a terrible fashion started to stack more and more over the years.
This made Arohasear incredibly wrathful, everything always fell upon him whenever they went wrong, even though his father could solve them with a snap of His finger. His resentment towards his father grew after every single argument, a resentment that could easily be used for someone elses benefit.
Fall[]
Helel started rallying up a third of the angels against God, promising them all benefits for if they follow him. Arohasear became intrigued, finally a way to get back at his father for leaving it up to him to settle conflicts. Arohasear decided to fight on Helel's side, for a war of this size could possibly help him in some fashion. During the War in Heaven, Arohasear was one of the first to be cast from the sky and to fall into the fiery pits of Hell.
When he woke up in Hell, he was greeted to the sight of one of his many previously angelic brethren, Amaymon. Amaymon gave his hand to the recently fallen angel and offered to help him walk while he was still healing from his injuries. While healing, his body transformed from his original beauty to a grotesque avian creature with two wolf legs and a reptilian tail. On that day, Amaymon and Arohasear were considered blood brothers, and Arohasear no longer went by the name his father gave him, renaming himself to Aamon.
Pagan world[]
Aamon originally attempted to gain power in Thebes by pretending to be the god Amun so he could be worshiped. The Thebans didn't find this convincing, as Aamon looked nothing like Amun even when under a disguise. He eventually stopped this impersonation attempt when Yaldabaoth exclaimed that he would bring punishment upon Amun, and so fled to Carthage to be worshiped as Hammon with similar results. After the Christianization attempts however, he stopped attempting to find worship, and chose to just work in Hell.
Myths and Legends[]
Aamon is a figure originating from the grimoire The Lesser Key of Solomon as the seventh spirit and the Dictionnaire Infernal as a demon who commands forty legions. It is possible that this was done to reconcile the term "Amon of Thebes" appearing in the Bible, to say that it wasn't an actual god but just a demon. The name Arohasear is original to the Gods and Demons wiki, meaning long hair from Hebrew etymological roots, was given to him by LloydAthanasius.
