That so-called deity, he isn't a real god. He is more of a, what the right English word for it... oh right, primal force. Right. He's more of a primal force with sentience than an actual living entity.
Tsukuyomi.

Amatsu-Mikaboshi, also known as the Primal Chaos, is an evil entity that was born out of all the rancor, hatred and desire for revenge of the goddess Izanami. He is the embodiment of chaos and evil, an avatar of the Prime God Khaos and the shadow of the goddess Izanami.

Overview[]

Details concerning Amatsu-Mikaboshi remain shrouded in obscurity within the realm of East Asian Mythology. Rarely mentioned in the typical reference texts, the characterizations of this entity are elusive. Drawing from fragments of ancient Japanese myths, it becomes evident that Mikaboshi is not a tangible deity akin to Amaterasu or Susanoo. Instead, it embodies a dark and primordial force that predates the universe, reigning in solitary dominion over an abyss of absolute darkness and control. However, it should be noted that Mikaboshi's identity as an aspect of the primordial Izanami, preceding the existence of Earth, complicates this interpretation, revealing that it is not the chaos itself.

Amatsu-Mikaboshi embodies an essence of unbridled dominance, nourished by human emotions. Left unchecked, these emotions can culminate in social, emotional, or physical devastation. For example, the desire for success may give rise to greed and a hunger for power, outcomes influenced by Mikaboshi's lingering malevolence. Similarly, love for another can deteriorate into obsession or jealousy, further reflecting the dark influence.

Over the centuries, certain creatures, innately inclined towards darkness or demonism, were believed to be bound in a subservient relationship to Mikaboshi's power. These beings were considered physical extensions of Mikaboshi's force, driven not solely by base desires like greed or lust during their mortal lives but by the entity's insidious temptations.

Souls departing with strong attachments that returned to afflict the living were thought to become direct agents of Amatsu-Mikaboshi's influence, distinct from the more commonplace vices. Consequently, entities such as oni, Ama-no-Jaku, and demons emerged as manifestations of natural elements ensnared by passions fueled by Mikaboshi's allure. Ultimately, it was believed that Mikaboshi's ultimate objective was the annihilation of all existence, returning it to a state of chaos, thus reinstating its static and domineering supremacy.

Appearance[]

The true appearance of Amatsu-Mikaboshi is largely unknown, being almost always perceived as a kind of dark liquid that expands indefinitely throughout creation, some say it looks like oil. It usually manifests as a humanoid figure made of thick smoke with red eyes or as a thin, gray, hair-protruding entity with sharp teeth and giant claws attached to its fingers.

Amatsu-Mikaboshi is an elusive force of nature with her true form being that of an immense formless darkness that could cover the whole of Takamagahara in shadow. It has been compared to an eldritch entity or a starless sky.

Personality[]

Despite most of Mikaboshi personality is unknown, given to his status as a evil deity, he seems to represent a darker aspect of Izanami. He is amoral and dark sentiental force rather than living being which brings darkness and destruction with him and seeks to destroy everything to return all back into a chaos. He is reponsible for suffering of many people as he feeds on their emotions which causes a dark drawback on them depending on emotions he devour. Mikaboshi is also arrogant and have no concern of others or Creation as such, calling archangels which challenged him as a arrogant birds before he deal with them.

Despite his evil deeds, Amatsu-Mikaboshi seems to have softer side to certain deities as well as their offsprings especially then Amaterasu as he kindly tell her purpose of darkness which he claims was beggining for everything. He is also fearful of Khaos and hold him in considerable regard.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Transcendent Nigh-Omnipotence: As an alter ego of the shinto goddess Izanami, Mikaboshi possesses a massive amount of power rivalling or even surpassing Zeus himself with Raphael himself stating that he might be the only primordial that is the closest to Khaos much like he is to God. In essence, this is about solely controlling the negative powers of darkness/shadow.
  • Creation: As the son and alter ego of Izanami, the Shinto goddess of creation, Amatsu-Mikaboshi also has the ability to create, albeit on a much more limited scale than Izanami and Izanagi, as he is a god of destruction rather than creation which however changed after he ecome avatar of Khaos. Amatsu-Mikaboshi can create organic or inorganic matter from nothing, either as finished objects or simply unfinished elements. On higher level he can create anything they can think of, whether conceptual or sentient. This includes the creation of energy, souls and life of any complexity, dimensions or realities, stars, etc.

Depending on the user, this could be anything and everything from small objects to entire galaxies or universes and possibly even abstract concepts and/or natural forces/laws.He is also able to remove something completely and utterly without leaving anything behind, it may instead be a form of Erasure.

History[]

When the goddess Izanami made peace with her husband, Izanagi, her heart once again felt the sweet and graceful sap of love and the grace of forgiveness. However, for millennia, the goddess Izanami has been accumulating hatred and rage against Izanagi and against all creation, killing 1,000 living beings every day on a mere whim just to provoke her husband's wrath.

Izanagi's apology was enough to calm the goddess's heart and calm her mind, but deep in her unconscious, due to years of stored grudge and hate, all that stored hate of the goddess couldn't accept forgiveness and love. that had sprouted in the goddess's heart again. She had hated Izanagi so much that when she forgave him the hatred was already solid and practically palpable, it had literally become a new entity.

Just as in the beginning of creation, when the light illuminated the darkness, this made the darkness angry and moved away as much as possible from the light, the darkness of Izanami's hate did not accept the light that came from the heart of the goddess and if away from her, with Izanami expelling all her negative aspects that personified into an entity called Amatsu-Mikaboshi, the king of chaos and evil, Izanami's shadow. The creature tried to attack the goddess Izanami and the god Izanagi, but with the two of them together they managed to expel Izanami's shadow from the Shinto pantheon and Earth, sending him into space.

For eons, Amatsu-Mikaboshi has been feeding on planets and devouring stars, vastly increasing his powers, growing stronger and stronger. He also absorbed the civilizations he encountered, thus gaining some kind of wisdom and intelligence. One day, while wandering through the shadow of the void of space, a colossal entity billions of times larger than the Milky Way manifested itself before Amatsu-Mikaboshi, known as Khaos, who found the creature interesting enough to be their avatar.

Khaos infused Amatsu-Mikaboshi with fragments of their power and thus he attained a power so indescribably unfathomable that he was now no longer a mere aspect of the goddess of creation and death, but a vessel for Khaos. It is believed that Amatsu-Mikaboshi's intention is to devour the planet Earth, however, as such an entity is blind and quite foolish, he has yet to find the globe, yet.

Myths and Legends[]

In Japanese mythology, Ama-tsu-mika-boshi (天津甕星, "Dread Star of Heaven", "August Star of Heaven"), also called Ame-no-kagase-o (天香香背男, "Scarecrow Male of Heaven", "Brilliant Male"), was originally a malevolent Shinto god.

Under Chinese Buddhist influence, the god was identified with Myōken either as the pole star or Venus, before being combined with the god of all stars, Ama-no-mi-naka-nushi (天之御中主神, "Divine Lord of the middle heavens").

In some versions he was born from Kagutsuchi's blood. He is mentioned in passing in the Nihon Shoki as being subdued by Takemikazuchi during the latter's conquest of the land of Izumo, and is sometimes identified with the figure of Takeminakata in the Kojiki.
