Beyrevra is a powerful demon, who is often conflated with the Hindu deity Bhairava.


Beyrevra is a demon of the souls that roam through space. He is described to have long and crooked nails, and is known to watch as sinful souls are turned into aerial demons. In hindu mythology, Beyrevra is the “terrible” aspect of Shiva. According to the Puranas, it was this aspect that severed Brahma’s fifth head.


He is described as having long crooked nails, which he constantly uses to cut off the heads of his enemies.

In Indian demonology, Beyrevra, sometimes known as Kala Bhairava, is the fierce manifestation of Shiva associated with annihilation, he is the demon of the souls that roam through space once they have been transformed into aerial devils. He is described as having long crooked nails, which he once used to cut off one of Brahma's heads.

It is said that when Brahma had insulted a superior god, Beyrevra punished him by cutting off one of his heads with his nail. This humiliated Brahma, who then asked the god Eswara for forgiveness and was promised that he would be no less respected with 4 heads than he was with 5.

He is one of the most important deities in Nepal, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand, who originated in Hindu mythology and is sacred to Hindus, Buddhists and Jains alike.
