A mysterious Canaanite god who has been associated with the Abrahamic God since biblical time. Even now, the name "El" is synonymous with the Biblical God.
El is a primordial entity, a Canaanite god son of Epigeius and was once the God of Israel, before being lost his office by Yahweh. He is also the brother and ex-consort of Asherah, the goddess of the Moon and Earth.
He was a Canaanite God, worshiped as the Creator of the Universe and husband of Asherah by the Canaanites and was also worshiped as the God of Israel, which he later ceased to be as he was considered a "false God". This is due to the fact that he was not an avatar of God like El Shaddai, the Ancient of Days or Allah, but was a descendant of Khaos, a very powerful amoral entity that inhabited the Endless Void before creation.
After Moses founded the worship of Yahweh, unlike Asherah, El and Yahweh began to be considered the same God. After millennia, it is not known what happened to El.

Quotes
El
Cursed be you, Yahweh! It's not enough that you stole my followers and worshipers, now you also stole my wife from me!?
I am the word! I am unique, absolute. I am above any promises or agreements. My will is what persists. And guess what, El, you'll just be a heathen god, no, a demon to the people who worshiped you and you'll live in my shadows. Thus said the Lord.
