“ | Notch, my dear brother, I came back, I came back much stronger. No matter how much you remove me, I will always come back. No matter how hard you try to get rid of me, I will come back again and again. No matter how hard you try to tell others that I don't exist, you know I'm here and will forever haunt you. I will never die. | „ |

Herobrine (real name unknown) is a vengeful spirit of the brother of the developer of the famous game Minecraft, Markus Persson. He is trapped inside his brother's game, haunting players.
Overview
He was originally the brother of Minecraft game creator Markus Persson, aka Notch, who due to unknown reasons, Herobrine was unable to rest in peace when he died and returned stuck in the game of Notch with the intention of getting revenge on his brother, haunting its players.
Unlike other entities in Creepypastas, Herobrine is much more powerful than other entities like Zalgo or Sonic.exe, the reason for this is that although he is trapped in a game, he is a vengeful spirit, that is, a human soul corrupted by darkness and by hatred and a deep desire for revenge, rather than a creature that came to life from the thoughts of the collective unconscious of human beings.
Being a high-level vengeful spirit, he is the target of many Hunters, but as long as he stays inside the game and the virtual world, it's impossible to exorcise him or put his soul at rest to go to Purgatory for his soul to be judged.
Appearance
The human appearance of Herobrine is unknown, however, inside the Minecraft game he appears with the "standard skin", but with totally white eyes, which is his most notable characteristic, as it probably represents the emptiness of his soul. Herobrine has close-cropped dark brown hair, dark brown skin, a dark brown nose and mouth, white eyes with blue-purplish pupils, and 4px arms. He wears a plain light blue T-shirt (hanging down untucked on the left-hand side), a pair of blue jeans, and gray shoes.

Myths and Legends
Herobrine first appeared in a single image that details an encounter. It was posted on "4chan's/v/board", and gained very little attention. He declared how Herobrine had appeared in someone's single-player game, messing up the map with several pyramids and 2x2 tunnels. It is the first media to name him as Herobrine.
Since then, many stories and theories about Herobrine started to emerge, and of course, for the Creepypasta lovers it was perfect. The Creepypastas claimed that Minecraft creator Markus Persson (also called Notch) had a brother who died while he was creating the game, and after he died Herobrine owned his brother's game and began to haunt Minecraft and its players.
However, Notch, the Minecraft developer has already confirmed that he has no dead brothers and that Herobrine does not exist within his game. There are no references to it anywhere in the source code, and there is nothing in the code that allows any entity to act like Herobrine. There is no code in the terrain generator to generate redstone torches, 2x2 tunnels or dungeons with elaborate traps. There is no way Herobrine can exist on unmodified clients or servers. Any claims that it is in Minecraft are completely false. Any appearances of it may have been caused by installed mods.

— Have You Seen The Herobrine. |
“ | I've publicly told people there's never been any such thing as Herobrine, and that I don't have any dead brothers, and that letting too many animals die in lava is a fool proof way to summon him but that you don't need to be afraid of him. He only means well, he's looking out for you, trying to warn you of the dangers you can't see. There certainly are NO physical manifestations of Herobrine that will sneak out of your computer if you leave Minecraft running at night, looming over you as you sleep with his pale eyes inches away from your face, as he tries to shout at you to wake up. Sometimes you wake up with a jolt, and he's gone, and all that lingers is the memory and faint echo of his wordless screaming. Of course it was just a dream. There's no way a morally dubious ghost with a god complex could at any point decide to haunt the children who play my game "for their own good", as there is NO SUCH THING. etc etc. | „ |
