I am the unknown Will, The Anger that threatens glory and ruin: Lord of Storms am I, in heaven high and caverns deep. I am the Father of the War, Odin for you, Wotan for him, Wayfarer, Wanderer, beggar, king, numen, genius, strength and ring.
Odin.

Odin is the chief god of the Æsir tribe of deities, revered as the Allfather of the gods, a god of wisdom, war, and royalty by the Norse, and the husband of the goddess Frigg.

Overview[]

His wolves Geri and Freki and ravens Huginn and Muninn are often seen at his side. Another one of his companions is the flying, eight-legged steed Sleipnir, who he rides across the sky and into the underworld. Odin is known for siring numerous sons with the most famous being Baldr, one of the most beautiful Norse deities, and Thor, the god of thunder and wielder of the powerful hammer Mjolnir.

Odin is considered to be more important than the Valkyries, powerful female warriors associated with the battlefields. He receives half of those who died during battles and takes them to his hall, Valhalla, where he turns them into his warriors, the Einherjar. The other half are taken by the goddess Freya to her hall, Fólkvangr.

Appearance[]

Odin has one eye and a beard. He is frequently seen wearing a cloak and broad hat and wielding his spear, Gungir.

Personality[]

Odin is both an honorable and wise ruler and a competent commander. However, he also convinces normally peaceful people to go down a path of sinister glee. He is closely affiliated with berserkers and warrior shamans who strive to achieve ecstatic unification with totem animals.

Like outlaws, Odin values poetry and fighting and is apathetic to the norms of society.

Odin is interested in knowledge and often attempts to seek them in some manner, like stealing the Mead of Poetry and making waggers with his wife Frigg over the eventual outcome of certain events.

Quotes[]

I have sacrificed much to achieve peace. So, too, must a new generation sacrifice to maintain that peace. Responsibility, duty, honor. These are not merely virtues to which we must aspire. They are essential to every soldier and to every king.
Odin.
This is what I am called. I am called Glad-of-War, Grim, Raider, and Third. I am One-Eyed. I am also called Highest, and True-Guesser. I am Grimnir, and the Hooded One. I am All-Father, Gondlir, Wand-Bearer. I have as many names as there are winds, as many titles as there are ways to die. My ravens are Huginn and Muninn, Thought and Memory; my wolves are Freki and Geri; my horse is the gallows. I am ODIN!!!
Odin.
Do not underestimate the cleverness and cunning of Odin, young warrior. He is very smart. Almost as smart as he thinks he is.
Mimir to a God Slayer.
My Ymir from heaven. You are such a liar that you lie even when you speak the truth.
Mimir to Odin.
