Some Queens of the Gods (Art by zeldacw)
“ | Consorts of the God-Kings. They are often depicted as Earth Mother Goddesses, counterparts to their spouse, who are traditionally depicted as the Sky Father. | „ |
— Carl Black. |
The Queen of the Gods is usually the most powerful goddess of a pantheon, usually as the wife of the King of the Gods.
Overview
They often act as the second highest deity within the pantheon, after their husband, but in some cases they serve as the leader of local deities. The most famous instance of this is the Japanese Shinto-goddess Amaterasu, who became the queen of the gods after the conflict between Izanami and Izanagi.
