The Spiritial Realm is a mysterious place for humanity. There are few times these days interactions between beings from this world and from the other side. But not in my case, as Dr. Facilier of Princess and the Frog would say: "I got friends on the other side".
Carl Black.

The Spiritual Realm, also called the Ethereal Plane, is the other side of the "curtain" of the universe, the spiritual reflection of the material world. It exists as part of Creation, remaining intangible and invisible to human beings and other beings in the material world. On this plane of existence, it is where Angels, Demons, Ghosts and God Himself dwell.

Overview[]

Physical World and Spiritual World

A comparison of the two worlds existing as two sides of the coin in the Megaverse (Art by Hades)

The spiritual realm is the sphere of creation where angels, demons, aeons and all kinds of spiritual entities reside. Human beings cannot access this plane of existence as their spirit souls are "trapped" within their shells, their human bodies. While the spiritual realm is generally thought of as Heaven, the reality is different. Heaven is just part of the Spiritual Realm, just as Earth is just part of the Human Realm. The Spirit Realm spans the entire Multiverse, from Hell to other realms like Asgard.

The Spiritual Realm should also not be thought of as a place above, a higher layer of existence, but as the other side of the curtain, it exists parallel to the material universe, but invisibly and unspeakably, there being no shaky connection between the two realms. The two realms are divided and separated by a dimensional membrane that prevents direct interactions in both realms. It is believed that there was a time when both worlds were one, but after humanity fell, there was a kind of division between both realms. It is not known if this is true, but it is possible.

Although both realms are separate, it is possible for there to be connections between them, which occur when a space-time distortion takes place, weakening the membrane that separates the worlds. Thus, allowing the manifestation of ghosts and other spiritual beings in their incorporeal forms. Divine beings cannot directly interact with the material realm and for that they are forced to use physical forms, avatars, in order to interact in the human realm.

Description[]

The spiritual realm can be described as the "true world" or "the true form of existence." With all things in the Material World being just shadows of what exists on the Spiritual Plane. Some would describe the material world as a "matrix", a false world that exists as a mere shadow of the spirit world. The first to suggest this type of view was Plato, who explained Dualist Platonism, which suggests that everything that exists in the earthly region has a true version in the spiritual and invisible world, with physical forms being shadows of the true world.

An example of this is human beings, with the physical body being just a shell for the true form and divine nature of a human being, their soul. The soul is, or is the power from which human consciousness comes, which is what allows human beings to make their own choices and go against their primitive and animalistic instincts, thus being able to love, forgive, repent, want to change and become someone better or worse, and so on. In other words, the free will. However, this does not mean that there is only peace in the spirit world. For there, there are constant battles and wars between angels, demons and even pagan gods as in the case of the Ten Great Plagues of Egypt.

Quotes[]

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
John 3:5-6.
